The past month has been a full one -- exhibitions, studio visits, website updates, and exciting shifts in how I share my work. But beyond the whirlwind of activity, I've been reflecting on the deeper value of art -- how it connects us, transforms spaces, and becomes part of our daily lives. This month, I want to share not just what I've been up to, but also some insights for those looking to start or further develop their own art collection.

March Highlight: Exhibitions & Open Studios
I was honored to have my work included in two exhibitions this past month. The first, Far More Precious Than Jewels, was on view for about a month at the Carver Community Cultural Center in San Antonio, a space rich with history and cultural significance. Originally built in 1918 as a school for African American students, the Carver has since become a hub for the arts, hosting legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. Having my piece Into the Light being part of this exhibition, surrounded by work that celebrates beauty and connection, has been an incredible experience.
The second exhibition was part of the 17th Annual On & Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour, where my piece Like No One's Watching was displayed at Bihl Haus Gallery. As part of the tour, I also opened my studio for two days, welcoming visitors into my creative space. Over 20 people came through, engaging with my work and sharing their own experiences. One of the best parts of this event was witnessing how people connected with my art -- seeing their reactions, hearing their interpretations, and sharing the stories behind each piece. Those moments of connection are why I create.

A Website Refresh & Shifting My Blog Focus
Another exciting update: I made some temporary changes to my website! While these are just interim adjustments, I have a more refined version in the works that I hope to launch within the next month. One of the biggest shifts I'm making is in how I approach my blog. Moving forward, I'll be aiming to post every other week, alternating between personal updates and helpful content for collectors. I want my blog to be a space that not only shares my journey but also provides value to those who are just beginning their art-collecting journey.
How to Start an Art Collection: A Guide for New Collectors
If you've ever considered starting an art collection or are new to the process and aren't sure where to begin, here's my advice: Start with art that speaks to you.
Many new collectors feel pressured to focus on the investment potential of art -- seeking pieces that may appreciate in value over time. But while investment collectors approach art with future gains in mind, emotional collectors focus on art's immediate impact -- how it makes them feel, what it reminds them of, and how it transforms their space.
Why does this matter? Because art that resonates with you pays dividends daily -- not in dollars, but in inspiration, joy, and emotional well-being. A piece you truly love becomes part of your environment, shaping your mood and deepening your personal connection to your space.

Three Tips for Starting Your Collection:
Don't get caught up in size or price. A small, affordable piece that moves you is just as valuable -- if not more -- than a large, expensive work that doesn't spark anything in you.
Trust your instincts. If you find yourself drawn to a piece, pay attention to that feeling. Art is meant to be experiences emotionally, not just intellectually.
Consider how art fits into your daily life. Where will you display it? How does it interact with the colors and energy of your space? Art isn't just something to look at -- it's something to live with.
Start Your Collection Today
If you're feeling inspired to start or expand your collection, I invite you to explore my portfolio and shop. Whether you're drawn to warm- sunset-inspired hues or textured abstract compositions, my work is created to evoke emotion and meaning. Take a look and find the piece that speaks to you.
Final Thoughts
This month has been a reminder of why I create -- not just to make art, but to connect, to share, and to contribute to spaces that feel alive and meaningful. Whether you're an artist, a collector, or simply someone who appreciates beauty, I hope this post offers something for you.
If you're just starting your art collection, what kind of pieces draw you in? And if you already have a collection, what was the first piece you ever bought? Send me an email or DM me on Instagram, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thank you for being here. Your support, whether through exhibitions, studio visits, or simply engaging with my work online, means so much.
Until next time,
PORSCHIA DANIELLE
